Underwood’s Short-Lived Hideaway Typewriter
Underwood wasn’t known for making the best portable typewriters. (That distinction would have been shared by Olympia, Olivetti, Hermes, Smith-Corona, & Remington.)
But the fun is often in the footnotes, and this certainly counts as one. Underwood produced the Hideaway typewriter, designed to fold down and hide inside a dedicated desk, in the mid-to-late 1950s.
